It’s no secret that most parents will – at some point – struggle with establishing a bedtime routine. Putting the kids to bed doesn’t have to be as difficult of a task as it is for some families! Bedtime should come as a peaceful ending to the day with your children followed by some time for you and your partner to practice some self-care.
We all have that one person in our lives whose baby slept through the night at six weeks old. But – if you are struggling to establish a routine that works for you and your family, know that you are not alone. Consider implementing some of these tips into your nightly schedule. Remember – you may not see changes overnight (see what I did there?). Routines take practice and consistency in order to become effective. Stick with it and don’t give up! This phase is sometimes hard, but it won’t last forever.
Don’t forget – practice and consistency are important when establishing an effective bedtime routine. When you are making changes, stick with them for a few nights before deciding if they work for you or not. Keep a log so that you can easily see what is working for your family and what is not, so that you can make changes accordingly. Know that you are not alone, and this hard phase of life will pass!
